Sweet Pea ‘Suzy Z’
I always look forward to the first sweet pea flowering, marking a return of the warmer seasons and those sweet summer fragrances lilting on the air. A fistful of sweet peas- there's nothing better. They are a confidence-giving, generous flowering plant. The more you cut the more they flower. They're easy and relatively fuss-free. Great big towers of them making your growing space more dynamic and beautiful to look at, they're a staple of the cutting garden.
This variety of sweet pea, bred by Owl's Acre, flowers for weeks and weeks and is still going long after the others have powered out. The colour is rare and special and hard to get hold of- a stunning smokey-grey plum. Wonderful for design work.
Sow in pots during Autumn for the most vigorous plants. Overwinter in a sheltered spot with lots of light. Sow again under cover from January, or direct once the frosts have passed. The young plants can handle a light cold-spell but do protect from hard frosty temperatures. Pinch out the growing tips at 6" tall to encourage bushy growth and more flowers.
