ALMA | PROUST is a floral design studio, seed shop, and flower farm founded and run by Milli Proust & Paris Alma.
Bringing seasonal and sustainable flowers to floral design ~ inspired by nature.
Inspired by the way plants grow in the garden and in the wild- we love working with what we cultivate here, creating romantic and playful designs that reflect the seasons, for weddings, events, brands, customers, and personal clients. All of our stems are grown in rhythm with nature, with organic practices in a passionate effort to protect the surrounding wildlife.
I’m Milli Proust- one half of ALMA | PROUST.
I moved from London to West Sussex with my partner Ted the best part of a decade ago and set up a flower farm and floral design studio.
Always searching for the most romantic ingredients to work with, I frequently ask Paris if we can just grow a whole field of roses. Can also be found scrabbling around in the hedgerows and in the ditches to find special little unassuming plants to weave into designs.
I live at what we like to call ALMA | PROUST HQ (we work mainly from the kitchen table here- it’s close to the kettle). My partner Ted and I live here amongst the flowers with our son Rex, and our sighthounds Jimmy and Stella- two light-footed wannabe farm-dogs. Paris and I run the design studio, grow plenty of the flower crop, and much of the seed crop all from HQ’s garden.
Paris Alma, the other half of ALMA | PROUST. Paris joined the team in March 2022 and the two of us enjoyed working in tandem so much that by July of that year, ALMA | PROUST was formed so we could continue working together indefinitely go build the kind of business we want to see in the world- each bringing our own set of skills to create a more dynamic and creative studio.
A Sweet pea obsessive, Paris loves nothing more than sowing the seeds, planning the field and dreaming big. Originally trained to be a dancer, Paris is meticulous in everything she puts her hand to. When not on the farm, you can still find Paris dancing or finding a beautiful spot to walk.
We grow flowers for florists and for our own event work on an acre field we rent from a local farmer, to surplus the crop we grow in the garden at HQ. On both sites, everything is grown with an organic approach with long-term sustainability at the forefront of every decision we make.
Driven by a love of flowers and the belief that beauty does not need to come at the expense of the environment, our aim is to get more sustainably-grown flowers in beautiful colour palettes grown in gardens and used designs.
We are passionate about sharing the beauty, and we run our seed shop, so that you too can fill your life with flowers.
We grow beautiful and unusual stems - scented, seasonal, and sustainable flowers, for the joy of people and for the love of the planet.
We love growing stems that are hard to source or are too fragile to be found at the market; those stems with special colours, subtle veining, or indescribable scents are the ones that make my heart skip a beat. Second to growing our own crop, we love nothing more than sourcing surplus blooms from other local growers when required for the larger-scale commissions and events.
To source your own most local UK flowers, or to join the network of your nearest growers, head to Flowers From The Farm website and search the map to find your closest independent flower farmers.
