Amaranthus ‘Hot Biscuits’
This is one of my top favourite amaranthus. The colour is great fun in design work- such warm, honey tones to work with. It’s the perfect late-summer and autumnal filler, providing texture, structure and colour. It looks incredible in the garden, standing tall and creating stature and shape in the border. I use it in arrangements and tucked into bouquets, and it immediately lends drama and conjures that end of summer feeling. Wonderful for drying too.
This variety has upright plumes in a warm, biscuity russet- unbeatable for moving into autumn. It glows gold and brass in the sun- heaven!
For best results sow under cover in early spring, and plant out when the weather has warmed. Can direct sow after the frosts have passed, and if it’s a mild winter, seeds dropped by last years plants will gently self-sow.
Pinch out at 12 inches tall to promote side branches make much easier to use in arrangements.
Hardy Annual
Full Sun
Space 30cm / 12 inches apart
90-100 days to maturity
Height: 100-120 cm
