April

April was Spring. It rained, but it also shone.

The blossom came and hung in abundance, the bees were finally out, and the slugs came in their droves. My partner was away for the month, so it was a blur and a juggle with Rex on my lap for the final meetings of the day, evening calls moved to deal with a bedtime gone awry, and many, many sleepless hours during the nights. We’ve had sunrises in cerise and sunsets blushing away the day to match the sweet pinkness of forced rhubarb season.

It was also a month of the book tour. Up and down and around the country, running some workshops, chatting all things Floristy & Seeds for the Grower’s Guides and meeting some lovely people. I didn’t go many places for From Seed To Bloom- a few before the book arrived, but nowhere after, as Rex’s arrival a week after the publication date put a stop to any book larks. For someone who likes to be at home, and work is home, and home is work, it was actually surprisingly nice to get out and about. I appreciate all of you who came to say hi, bought a book, and asked a question- it was all that made it fun.

It’s April that makes the lambs skip their way into the world, explodes the bluebells out from hiding in their cobalt jackets, and gives the light new stamina to make it to the far reaches of the day. So, the tulips have come and have almost gone, the HQ sweet peas have been planted out, and the first wedding of the year is under our belts. It’s all been happening, and all is yet to happen; the precipice of abundance, we’ve had a taste of it now.
